A Great B.J. Upton Metaphor

From a Ken Rosenthal piece today:

A scout says of Upton, “He’s like a beautiful woman, cursed by his natural gifts. You want more and more.”

I would flip that to say, like anything, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what some find unattractive, others find amazing. One of my Facebook friends said the other day in response to Jake’s post yesterday, “To me, Upton’s defense alone is worth what the Rays pay him. Whatever he does at the plate is a bonus.”  I agree.
