BHSN: Upton Finds His Groove

Our weekly piece at BHSN.com is up this week and it is all about the red-hot B.J. Upton.

B.J. Upton is easily one of the most polarizing sports figures in the Tampa Bay market. One can tune into any one of the local sports radio shows or tune in nationally to hear a variety of opinions about Upton, ranging from overly complimentary of his tools to the overly critical for past transgressions that some can never forgive him for.

In 2007, Upton came up for good to the major league level and had a phenomenal first full season hitting .300, swiping 22 bases while driving in over 80 runs and scoring over 80 runs. His Wins Above Replacement (WAR) value that season was 15th best in the American League, which exceeded the value of A-list stars such as Vladimir Guerrero and Derek Jeter that season, all at the age of 23.
