BHSN: Non-Traditional Offense for a Non-Traditional Team

The Rays’ team batting average is nearly 20 points lower than team batting average of the Twins, Rangers, and Yankees–teams that are also printing up their post-season tickets this week.

The Rays’ team slugging percentage is also lower than their American League playoff competition. In fact, the Rays’ team batting average and team slugging percentage is below the average for the entire American League.

Despite those two factors, the Rays are third in the American League in runs scored in 2010 and trail only the Yankees in regard to playoff teams.

    They have certainly had a lot of hitting problems recently. Atleast tonight they looked pretty good. But they must continue that success or they won’t go far in the playoffs.
