Bartlett (Maybe) Traded to Padres

It was reported earlier by the Padres official site that Jason Bartlett had been dealt to the Padres for relievers Adam Russell and Cesar Ramos. Quotes later came out from Jason Bartlett saying he knew a trade was coming and another from Reid Brignac about being excited to be the everyday shortstop. Only problem – someone apparently forgot to tell the Rays there was a done deal. While all of us were down here in the media room working on a story, Marc Topkin tweeted:

Interesting twist: #Rays now say reports of Bartlett trade are premature, and no announcement is coming tonight.

While they work out whether the trade is done or not, read Tommy Rancel’s review over at ESPN1040 and R.J. Anderson’s review at TheProcessReport about the pitchers coming back from the Padres if the deal holds as it was initially announced.
