I sit here this morning and wonder if along with the acquisition of Will Myers the Rays had come up with both Mike Trout and Bryce Harper. It’s scary to think what kind of numbers this trio could put up during their career.
Trout last year at the tender age of twenty years old hit 30 home runs, stole 49 bases to lead the AL and posted nearly an 11 WAR.
Harper wasn’t far behind. He at just a teenager put up a 5.2 WAR and a 120 OPS+ along with 22 home runs.
Myers at 21 years old combined for 37 home runs between AA and AAA ball.
Do I have you drooling yet? And then just think how wonderful it’d be to learn that the Rays signed all three of these studs to contracts taking them well past their arbitration years. And this is where the dream becomes reality, because with all that being said, unless you’re a fan of the Durham Bulls, you’ll have to wait to see that trio at Tropicana Field. Surely neither Trout or Harper can unseat the scary bat of Sam Fuld or the one sided bat of Matt Joyce. No they’ll need more seasoning. And of course Will Myers could never help with the power outage on a team that has fewer than 5 home runs to this point. Oh well that’s what dreams are for.
As always. Go Rays
